  • John J. Yim
  • Nina Yim

John Yim has been a litigator for nearly 15 years.  He has spent his career honing his skills as a trial lawyer.  He represents litigation clients ranging from corporations to individual clients, with the single aim of trying and winning cases.

Mr. Yim has over a decade of experience handling complex commercial, intellectual property, and business cases.  While in law school, he clerked for Justice Randall T. Eng of the New York State Supreme Court, and he was also a litigator at the international law firms of Milbank Tweed and Fulbright & Jaworski.

Mr. Yim is admitted to practice in California, the District of Columbia, Maryland, Virginia, and the United States Patent and Trademark Office.  With his litigation background, Mr. Yim also counsels clients in intellectual property matters, including patents and trademarks, and in commercial and business maters.  He graduated from UCLA with a degree in biology, with an emphasis in genetic engineering, and graduated from St. John’s University, School of Law, on a full scholarship.

As a trial lawyer and an effective courtroom advocate, Mr. Yim’s practice goes beyond technical maneuvering and discovery squabbles.  His effectiveness stems from his attention to detail and his dedication to being prepared.  But he believes that his most powerful asset is his willingness to tell the truth—to be forthcoming and transparent, to be credible to the decision maker—whether judge or jury.

Mr. Yim is an avid student of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, holding a blue belt at the American Fight Club in Tysons Corner, Virginia.  Mr. Yim is also a deacon at his church, Open Door Presbyterian Church and is involved in the small group ministry.

Nina Yim is a member of the District of Columbia bar.  She received a Juris Doctor degree from the American University, Washington College of Law, and a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Pennsylvania.

While in law school, Ms. Yim worked as an appellate clerk for the Fifteenth Judicial Circuit of the State of Florida, handling civil and criminal appellate cases.  Also during law school, she worked at the Office of Special Counsel (Immigration Related Unfair Employment Practices) of the United States Department of Justice.

Ms. Yim worked for the United States Department of Housing and Urban Development, Board of Contract Appeals, in Washington, D.C, handling government-contracts litigation and appeals as a sole clerk for three Judges.  She also worked as a contract attorney on a high-profile civil litigation involving rights of disabled individuals in stadium-style movie theaters for the United States Department of Justice, Civil Rights Division.

Ms. Yim has also worked with non-profit groups such as Bread for the City/Zacchaeus Legal Clinic in Washington, D.C. and with Project H.O.M.E. in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
